Event: The Imaginary in the Diaspora

Event: The Imaginary in the Diaspora

A Talk and Discussion with Leo Robinson

For his community engagement project, Leo Robinson, a Glasgow-based multimedia artist and Tiwani Contemporary Resident at G.A.S. hosted an artist talk titled The Imaginary in the Diaspora. During the discursive event, Leo discussed his work from the last two years through the framework of imaginary cultures and rituals.

At the heart of Robinson's oeuvre lies the act of remixing—an artistic practice that reshapes oracles, music, and myths into novel forms of spirituality, psychology, and identity. This presentation unveiled works in progress, such as a new mythological card game, and how Leo's time in Nigeria brought up new questions, symbols, and narratives for this ever-evolving speculative world.

The presentation provided a glimpse into Robinson's creative process, with one of the notable highlights being an interactive session with his work-in-progress, a mythological card game.  This experience offered a tangible connection to the evolving speculative realm he crafted.
